Description:  A scholarly, multidisciplinary database providing indexing and abstracts for over 10,000 publications, including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, and others. Also includes full-text access to over 5,000 journals. Offers coverage of many areas of academic study including: archaeology, area studies, astronomy, biology, chemistry, civil engineering, electrical engineering, ethnic & multicultural studies, food science & technology, general science, geography, geology, law, mathematics, mechanical engineering, music, physics, psychology, religion & theology, women's studies, and other fields.

Dissertations & theses
Description:  Includes citations for over 2.7 million dissertations and theses from around the world, ranging from 1861 to those accepted last semester. Dissertations published from 1980 forward include 350-word abstracts; master's theses from 1988 forward include 150-word abstracts. Where available, PQDT provides twenty-four page previews. More than 1.2 million are available for download in PDF format.

Energy citations database : 1948-present
Description:  Provides access to over 2.4 million science research citations and documents are made publicly available by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Includes scientific and technical research results in disciplines such as chemistry, physics, materials, environmental science, geology, engineering, mathematics, climatology, oceanography, and computer science. It includes bibliographic citations to report literature, conference papers, journal articles, books, dissertations, and patents.

GeoScienceWorld
Description:  Serves as a comprehensive resource for research and communications in the geological and earth sciences, and SMU's access to GeoRef. Containing over 2.6 million bibliographic records covering subjects such as mineralogy and crystallography, general mineralogy, mineralogy of silicates, and mineralogy of non-silicates. Geology of North America is covered from 1785 to the present, and geology of the world is covered from 1933 to the present. Produced by the American Geological Institute.

Description:  Online search engine by Google specializing in academic and research information. Uncovers documents from fee-based databases and digitial repositories not found when using Google. Google Scholar also links to full-text content owned by SMU library when searched on campus or from this link.

Description:  Provides access to a comprehensive collection of academic and professional research articles online, nearly 4.5 million articles from 13,500 publications.

NASA Technical Reports Server (NTRS)
Description:  Provides access to over 500,000 aerospace-related citations, over 200,000 full-text online documents, and over 500,000 images and videos. The NTRS integrates historical NASA information with more recent research from various research facilities. The types of information found in the NTRS include: conference papers, journal articles, meeting papers, patents, research reports, images, movies, and technical videos.

Patent full-text databases
Description:  The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (PTO) Web Patent Full-Text Databases include the full text of all patents granted since 1976, and the patent number, issue date, and current US classification for all patents granted from 1790 through 1975. Patents from January 1976 to the present offer the full searchable text, including all bibliographic data, such as the inventor's name, the patent's title, and the assignee's name; the abstract; the full description of the invention; and the claims.

Description:  A full-text database offering journal articles and book chapters published by Elsevier, including more than 2,500 peer-reviewed journals and more than 11,000 books.
