Welcome to SMU Financials v8.9!

SMU Financials

On March 13th, 2007 the SMU Financials application was upgraded to version 8.9.

What Has Changed?

If you are a standard user of SMU Financials - enter/view journal entries and inquire on vouchers/vendors/payments - then not much has changed!  This is still very much the same version of SMU Financials that you've come to know and love.  Although this new version has "behind the scenes" changes to platform and architecture to operate more efficiently and securely, its general 'look and feel' remains similar. 

However, there are some differences you might notice, such as:

  • Budget Checking is not active.  On the Journal Lines page, journal entries no longer display Budget Status on the bottom right-hand corner.  The only status displayed is Journal Status.

  • The Voucher and Payment Inquiry pages have been redesigned and streamlined for ease of use.  View, download and print Payment Inquiry Web Training and Documentation, or Voucher Inquiry Web Training and Documentation.

  • Certain journal entry fields may have re-appeared on the Journal Lines page.  When inputting or viewing journal lines you may notice fields that you do not need to see or use, such as Unit, SpeedType, and Base Currency.  You can hide these fields from displaying through the Customize feature.  View Web Training and Documentation on using this feature.

What if you are not a "standard" user of SMU Financials?  For example, you upload files from other campus systems into SMU Financials.
