Welcome to the Payroll Department’s website

The Payroll Department is part of the Controller’s Office at SMU. We support the university’s focus on education, research, and service by ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and the safeguarding of University assets.

Our department’s mission is to pay SMU’s employees timely and accurately. Our areas of responsibility include:

§         Compensation payments to all SMU employees

§         Payroll tax withholding and deposits

§         Direct deposits for payroll payments

§         Job records for student, temporary, and adjunct employees

§         Taxation and reporting of all payments to foreign nationals

§         Year-end reporting (Forms W-2 and 1042S)

§         Compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations as well as university policies
