International Tax Information

According to United States Treasury Regulation §301.6109-1, all persons are required to have an individual tax payer identification number, as provided by the Social Security Administration or Internal Revenue Service. This is required of all persons receiving money from the University, including employees, scholarship recipients, stipend recipients and all International visitors.

If your country of origin is one of the following countries and you are on a scholarship, please come to Total Compensation located in Perkins Administration Building Room 313. Ask to fill out Form W-8BEN (formally known as Form 1001)*

If your country of origin is one of the following countries and you will be receiving wages for work performed on campus, please come by Total Compensation located in Perkins Administration Building Room 313. Ask to fill out Form 8233 and please bring your 1-20 or I-AP66, 1-94, Visa, and Social Security card.*

If you are a researcher or professor and from any of the above listed countries or one not listed, please inquire about your tax treaty eligibility at Total Compensation located in the Perkins Administration Building Room 313.

Social Security Information

The Social Security Administration building is located at: 10600 Steppington. Call 1-800-772-1213 for more information. See the map below.

After you receive your permanent card be sure to:

1) Bring the card to the Payroll Office for the change at 313 Perkins Administration Building.

2) Go to the Registrar office for a change then go to the Pony Express Office for a permanent ID Card.

Temporary cards cannot be used continually. Your taxes will not change unless you make a change.
