SafeAssign is now available to all faculty, staff, and students in Blackboard.
SafeAssign is a plagiarism prevention tool and citation checking tool
offered by Blackboard.
This tool is designed to help you know if you have properly cited papers by flagging
text from another source.
Students will only be able to check papers through the SafeAssign Assignment tool if your professor has made it available.
Here are the steps for students submitting a paper through a SafeAssign Assignment in Blackboard. You may or may not need all of these steps. It will depend on how your instructor sets up an assignment.
- Find the Assignment link in your course.
- Click View/Complete below the assignment title or instructions.
- Be sure to read the Terms of Agreement
- Read the assignment instructions
- Attached your file for submission
- Click Submit at the bottom right of the page
If your professor has allowed it you will be able to submit a paper as a draft. That will allow you to retrieve the initial SafeAssign results. At that point you can make corrections to your paper then submit it for grading.
If your professor allows it you will also be able to see your SafeAssign results of the completed assignment.
- To view your results go back to the assignment link - click View/Complete then Okay on the next page.
Your results will appear in the SA Report column. It will appear
as a green check: ![]()
SafeAssign will accept the following file formats: .zip, .doc, .txt, .pdf, .rtf and .html. A .zip file can only contain one or more of the other formats. SafeAssign does not yet accept the new Office 2007 .docx files.
