How can I copy content from one
Blackboard course to another?
The new integration of Blackboard and Access.SMU creates a course shell for all courses and sections being taught during the current term. Academic Computing strongly advises you to move your current course materials into the new course shells.
Below are the steps in Blackboard to copy your materials from one course to another.
Copying Course Materials via the Bb Course Copy Tool:
Make a backup of the original course and download it to your local hard drive. Choose Export from the Control Panel of the original course. Details on backups are in the help files on the left.
Go to the previous term's course that contains your course materials.
- Go to the Control Panel of the course you are copying from.
- Click Course Copy, in the Course Options section of the Control Panel.
- Click Copy Course Materials into an Existing Course
- In the Destination Course ID box, enter the Blackboard course ID of the course that you are copying into. If you are unsure of the course code, please click Browse to search for it. The Course ID is also displayed in the blue title bar of the Control Panel. Example: THNK1301-10-1082
- Under Select Course Materials, check the areas that you want to copy into the course, using the checkboxes.
• Don't check the Enrollment or all of last term's students will be copied into the new course.
• To copy deployed tests, you must select the appropriate Content Area, Gradebook Items and Settings, as well as Tests, Surveys and Pools
• To copy deployed assignments, you must select the appropriate Content Area, as well as Gradebook Items and Settings,Click Submit to proceed and wait for the process to complete.
NOTE: The steps above may create duplicate menu items. You can remove the duplicates. Go to Control Panel > Manage Course Menu and remove any unneeded items.
