The "Growing a Healthy Relationship" (GHR) retreat is an 11-hour (Friday night and Saturday morning) marriage enrichment and education event for married, engaged, and seriously dating couples facilitated by The Center for Relationship Enrichment and led in the Christian tradition. For more information about the program please visit www.liferelationships.com/uri/growing.asp
The "Growing a Healthy Relationship" retreat is led by Dr. Jay and Mrs. Barb Barnes. Jay, President at Bethel University, and Barb have a passion for helping Christ-followers marry well and stay married with joy and purpose. Since 1978 they have run small groups for engaged couples each fall and spring semester. Two factors motivated them to do this: several of the people who were in their wedding party started divorcing and their own marriage was under stress. By God's grace and with a lot of work, their own marriage survived and is thriving! They enjoy talking honestly and openly with many engaged and married young adults about how to develop the commitment, skills, habits, and attitudes needed to grow a strong marriage. Jay and Barb are parents of three adult children and grandparents of 8 grandchildren.
The "Growing a Healthy Relationship" Retreat Program is designed to be much more than a mere weekend event. Part One is the weekend retreat. Part Two involves a follow up session, called "Great Date Night" (GDN) held on March 7th from 6:30-8:30 pm to help reinforce and encourage growth around what was learned at the retreat. GDN is a required part of the retreat and will be held at a nearby restaurant.
Each couple who completes the program (retreat, assessments, and Great Date Night) will receive a $25 Walmart gift card, a code to take the Couple Checkup on your own (a $29.95 value), providing you with an additional resource to help reinforce some of the concepts you learned through the GHR program and encourage further conversations as you work on strengthening your relationship, and an opportunity to win an additional gift card and a Grand Prize in April.
