The Hegi Family Career Development Center’s
Advisory Board Fellowship
The Hegi Family Career Development Center’s Advisory Board (HFCDCAB) Fellowship is designed to support a student’s interest in helping SMU’s Career Center maintain the highest level of career development and employer relations services.
This fellowship honors current SMU students by enabling them to interact with leaders of industry, pillars of the community and campus executives. Students will also play a significant role in shaping the strategy, vision and goals of the career center for years to come while initiating change for short-term programmatic improvements.
The Hegi Family Career Development Center guides and encourages students in the development of skills necessary for a lifetime of career management in the changing world of work. Our counselors work with students at all levels to effectively manage their career development and implement their career plans. The Career Center has an active campus recruiting and job referral program which includes full-time positions, internship opportunities, part-time and summer jobs.
The student(s) selected as a HFCDCAB Fellow receives executive board experience, networking opportunities with exemplary leaders, training in strategic planning for departmental initiatives, opportunities for hands-on programmatic implementation. Student members are expected to attend 2 (two) Advisory Board meetings each year (April & November). They are also expected to participate in all assigned sub-committee meetings and/or project activities, pending plans delineated in Board meetings. The ideal fellowship recipient will be a current SMU student (undergraduate or graduate) who will agree to uphold the following expectations:
(a) Commit to a two
(2) year assignment as a HFCDCAB member,
(b) Execute the mission of the HFCDCAB by striving to implement change and
initiate growth so SMU can enjoy a best in class career center.
