Fall 2013 Internship Program

The George W. Bush Presidential Center is seeking professional, dependable, enthusiastic students for unpaid internships for the 2013 summer semester.

The George W. Bush Presidential Center (the Bush Center) is a dynamic hub of ideas, innovation, and action that includes: a library to preserve and present the history of the Bush presidency; a unique physical and virtual presence to convene and connect neighbors and visitors from across the country and around the world; and an action oriented institute to develop practical and measurable solutions to challenging public problems.

Objectives
The objectives of the internships are to provide undergraduate students with opportunities to:
1) engage in substantive projects and tasks that augment their in‐classroom studies;
2) develop meaningful relationships that will enhance their professional development and future
opportunities; and
3) gain broad exposure to the ongoing work of President and Mrs. Bush and the Bush Center.
Projects undertaken during the internship may be eligible for academic credit based on individual
agreements established between interns and faculty members.

What's In An Offer?

 

A recent survey suggests that 40% of employers give candidates less than a week to decide on an offer. This means you will have a lot of information to evaluate and perhaps not that much time. And there are many factors to keep in mind in addition to the salary. Below is a brief list of questions to ask yourself when considering an offer.

-- Do the job responsibilities sound interesting? Will I build skills?
-- What is the career path for this position and can I advance?
-- Does it seem like I can work well with the management style here?
-- Does the company seem financially stable? Have there been recent layoffs?
-- When is my first salary and/or performance review? How often?
-- What are my 401(k) or retirement options? Does the company match?
-- Is tuition reimbursement offered at any point?
-- Can I see myself fitting into this office environment?
-- Is there anything else that is important to me?

Remember, this is just a start – meet with a career counselor to talk about more of the factors that can influence your job decision.

Company Overview

EnduringLife has been writing client's memoirs for 20 years.

These 300-plus page books capture a person's history, heritage and memories–a wonderful way for a person's legacy to live on. Such a book becomes a treasured family heirloom to inspire, educate and enrich future generations.

EnduringLife is looking for an intern for editing and embellishing these manuscripts. The opportunity also may entail, if desired, the actually interviewing of these clients. EnduringLife provides all the training necessary.

It's fun, provides a good income, and a way to learn about a unique career as a memoir writer, which is in demand, and provides a healthy income stream post graduation. Come to the information session on March 20th from 3pm-5pm in Suite 200 of Hughes-Trigg Student Center at the Hegi Family Career Development Center!
