Tax Associate

Job Description: • Perform general tax functions including, but not limited to, preparation and review of estimated tax payments for individuals, trusts, and corporations, preparation and review of federal and state income tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, foundations and corporations.
• Perform tax research and planning projects and other miscellaneous duties as assigned
• Work closely with Client Advisory Team Directors and Tax Director and Managers on various projects

Qualifications: Minimum Position Requirements:
• 0 – 3 years direct tax preparation experience
• 4 year degree in accounting and/or CPA certification
• Ability to multi-task
• Ability to function in a fast paced environment
• Experience within the area of tax research and planning

Other Essential Candidate Traits:
• Experience using Windows based software, including Microsoft Office applications and the Internet
• Experience using ProSystems, BNA and PPC tax software
• Some client interaction
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, initiative, and ability to make decisions within guidelines
• Attention to detail and organizational skills must be a strength
• General knowledge and understanding of private client/personal financial services industry preferred
• Willingness to learn, expand responsibility

 

 

Client Advisory Team Intern- Summer 2012

Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepare financial analyses for various personal wealth management issues; including investments, estate planning, tax planning, debt management and insurance.

Interns will complete a program in which you rotate through the following teams or individuals:

• Client Advisory Analyst Team
o Learn TWM’s procedures and Update client financial information (balance sheets, quarterly reporting information, reallocations, etc.)
• Client Advisory Management Team
o Complete various client projects (determining cost basis information from account transfers, determining partial ownership figures for tenants in common accounts, create gain/loss reports, etc)
• Client Advisory Director/Managing Director Team
o Complete various client projects (real estate evaluations, private equity evaluations, and other projects depending on what the director is working on)
• Investment Team
o Learn TWM’s investment strategies (review potential asset managers, compile historic financial data, conduct quantitative and graphical analyses)
• Client Accounting Team
o Compile and enter information for clients (general ledger entries, perform reconciliations, set up client accounts, sort client accounting documents)
• Client Tax Team
o Compile and enter information for clients (Assemble tax documents and enter tax information into spreadsheets)
• Corporate Accounting and Compliance Team
o Complete various corporate accounting projects (set up accounts, research current and upcoming accounting issues, and any other projects as warranted)
Requirements:
• Junior or Senior (preferred) standing in an accredited accounting or finance undergraduate/graduate program
• Strong financial analytical skills and understanding of basic financial concepts
• Desire to learn and grow professionally in the personal wealth management business.
• Experience using Windows based software, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, applications and the Internet
• Minimum of 3.3 GPA (overall)
• Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours a week
 

 

Analyst, Client Advisory Team
• Prepare financial analyses for various personal wealth management issues; including investments, estate planning, tax planning, debt management and insurance.
• Information gathering for client financial matters
• Communications with client service team and client outside advisors
• Preparation of financial reports and presentations for clients.
• Coordination and execution of investment strategies
• Research on investment ideas and wealth management strategies

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate business degree in accounting or finance
• Preferred 3.2 minimum cumulative GPA
• Either internship or full-time work experience in finance industry
• Strong financial analytical skills and understanding of basic financial concepts
• Desire to learn and grow professionally in the personal wealth management business.
• Experience using Windows based software, including Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, applications and the Internet
