Position Descriptions
**Position will be located in NYC for 12-18 months with expectations to move into an Account Management/Sales position in Dallas**

This entry level position is ultimately responsible for providing professional and timely service for clients, vendors, distributors and internal Standard & Poor’s staff in the areas of technical, content and application consulting.

-Client Services is responsible for supporting S&P Capital IQ’s entire revenue base for product support serving all respected names in the financial markets arena representing over $1.3 Billiion in annual revenue to the firm. This 1:1 direct client contact is critical to contract negotiations and long-term revenue retention.
-Product Consultants interact with more clients than any other group in the company handling approximately 30,000 issues per month. This group has a direct impact on client’s perception of S&P Capital IQ.
-The Product Consultant learns how to communicate and select the proper general, leading and probing questions to determine the client's knowledge level and the exact nature of their concern.
-Under the supervision of the Sr. Product or Lead Product Consultant, the Product Consultant analyzes problems caused by hardware and software and must be able to pinpoint the cause of the problem, taking appropriate steps towards solutions.
-The incumbent must learn how to formulate complex expressions resulting in screens, reports and templates with the help of Sr. Product or Lead Product Consultants. This requires a strong understanding of the applications and the ability to provide the best solution for the client while optimizing S&P Capital IQ’s proprietary analytical software.

Responsibilities:
-Primary responsibility as a Product Consultant: Provides initial issue resolution to clients, distributors, and internal staff, primarily via the support phone line, but also originating from email, chat, S&P website, or referrals. Issue resolution often requires extensive research, with the assistance of the product leads, and product related hardware and software, troubleshooting to resolve complex data and product technical issues and performing diagnostics which often requires the need to work with the client’s IT department for effective resolution.
-Training and certification on products/applications which increases product knowledge adding to consultants’ ability to take all client questions.
-Thorough documentation of client’s concerns as they related to product offerings, data collection procedures and -marketing policies in the CRM system.
-With the assistant of Product Leads, provides in-depth research to resolve complex client questions based on the S&P Capital IQ product offering ensuring clients are provided with thorough, accurate resolutions to their questions
-Gain the skill to document product resolutions for Knowledge Base from new case resolutions to ensure all Product Consultants have access to current, accurate information for subsequent client questions.

Qualifications:

-An undergraduate degree is required with a finance related field strongly preferred as the incumbent must have solid knowledge of finance and accounting principles to resolve client questions.
-This position requires strong communication and customer service skills to effectively resolve client concerns and promote S&P Capital IQ product usage. Problem-solving, time-management, and organizational abilities are also required to efficiently resolve client concerns
-It is preferred the incumbent have knowledge of in the areas of S&P data, finance and accounting principles, marketing and research policies and procedures, product production cycles.
-Technical knowledge of PC hardware and software, including standard operating systems, basic network usability, and spreadsheet software is necessary in support of products. Ongoing education is necessary to stay abreast of current technology.
