The Services group provides a variety of services, including moving furniture for departments, removing trash from campus, maintaining all of the streets, walks, and parking lots; and along with operators, this shop furnishes appropriate equipment, such as tractors, fork lifts, small electrical equipment, trenching equipment, and so forth. Also, an automotive garage is equipped to service all official University vehicles.
For burnt out light bulbs in a standard height ceiling call Eric English at 214-768-2163. (For high ceilings, please enter a work order.)
We provide scheduled pick-up of recyclables including office paper, aluminum cans and cardboard to most campus buildings. Smaller building pick-ups are arranged on a "call in" basis. Recycling services are provided at no extra charge to our waste customers. Participation in the SMU recycling program is voluntary, and highly encouraged.
Some special notes on trash collection: If your loading dock area is blocked, we make every attempt to notify people in the building of the situation, and have vehicles moved. If your dock is blocked a second time we will skip your building and you will not receive collection service for that day. If you have an overflow waste situation, place all overflow neatly to one side of the dumpster or compactor. Please do not put materials in front of or leaning against the container. Refuse and recycling containers are for disposition of University materials only. Private or household garbage is illegal. If you suspect unauthorized use, please contact the Service group or the SMUPD. Refuse and recycling services may also be set up at special outdoor events. Please call ahead. All University generated refuse (excluding Hospital waste) is delivered to the City of University Park Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station. The University is also a consociate with Trinity Allied Recycling, Inc. for our recycling efforts.
