Energy Management

Engineering Control Shop Central Plant

The Energy Management (EMCS) team has the responsibility of managing utility usage (electricity, natural gas, water, chilled water, steam, and compressed air). The high cost of energy is a matter of particular concern to the University community. Most energy conservation efforts are coordinated through the following areas within the Energy Management Team: Central Plant, HVAC Call Center (Hot & Cold Calls), Control Shop, HVAC Corrective and Preventive Maintenance, Engineering and Utilities.

The policy for controlling the temperatures in campus buildings is established by the Administration of the University. Present policy is to allow the temperature to be set within a normal temperature range by the occupant, consistent with the minimum use of energy.

Any questions or suggestions to do with comfort conditions, environmental controls, facilities engineering or energy management should be directed to the Director of Energy Management and Engineering at extension x82122.

Any complaints having to do with comfort conditions should be directed to the HVAC Call Center at extension 8-3266.

Conservation Tips

Use the sun's energy to dry your clothes when weather permits. The energy's free, and your clothes smell fresher.
