Over 200 new street and traffic signs were put up on campus in 2003.

The McFarlin Memorial Auditorium was opened in 1926 and has evolved over time as "a place where we can have our friends from the community and elsewhere together on great occasions." Financing was secured by a generous donation from devout Methodist and San Antonio businessman Robert M. McFarlin. The auditorium seating capacity is 2,407. McFarlin Auditorium is one of ten SMU buildings listed on the National Historic Register.
