Dear Members of the SMU Community:

 

In order to assist families with tuition costs, SMU and TuitionPay by Sallie Mae have partnered on your behalf to provide a variety of payment options. If you choose to utilize one of these plans, please apply at your earliest convenience so that financing arrangements for the semester are made well in advance of the assigned payment due date. We would like to make you aware of the following payment options:

 

I. Annual Tuition Payment Plans

 

A.     Twelve Month Payment Plan - This annual plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 12 installments (6 installments per semester) beginning July 1 through December 1 for fall and beginning January 1 through June 1  for spring. The enrollment fee is $100. The deadline to enroll in this plan is August 10.

 

B.      Ten Month Payment Plan - This annual plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 10 installments (5 installments per semester) beginning August 1 through December 1 for fall and beginning January 1  through May 1  for spring. The enrollment fee is $130. The deadline to enroll in this plan is August 10.

 

C.    Eight Month Payment Plan - This annual plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 8 installments (4 installments per semester) beginning August 25  through November 25  for fall and beginning January 25  through April 25  for spring. The enrollment fee is $150. The deadline to enroll in this plan is September 30  (please note that if you enroll after the SMU payment due date you will be assessed a late payment fee and a hold will be placed on your student account).

 

 

II. Tuition Payment Plans by Semester

 

1.     Six Month Payment Plan - This semester plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 6 installments beginning July 1  through December 1  for fall and beginning January 1  through June 1  for spring. The enrollment fee is $50 per semester. The deadline to enroll in this plan is August 10  for fall and December 31  for spring.

 

2.    Five Month Payment Plan - This semester plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 5 installments beginning August 1  through December 1  for fall and beginning January 1  through May 1  for spring. The enrollment fee is $65 per semester. The deadline to enroll in this plan is August 10  for fall and December 31  for spring.

 

3.     Four Month Payment Plan - This semester plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 4 installments beginning August 25  through November 25  for fall and beginning January 25  through April 25  for spring. The enrollment fee is $75. The deadline to enroll in this plan is September 30  for fall and January 31  for spring (please note that if you enroll after the SMU payment due date you will be assessed a late payment fee and a hold will be placed on your student account).

 

 

III. Summer Tuition Payment Plan

 

         Summer Tuition Payment Plan - This summer plan permits payment of tuition, fees, room and board in 3 installments beginning May 1 through July 1. The enrollment fee is $75. The deadline to enroll in this plan is June 1 (please note that the summer payment plan may overlap with the fall and spring plans so please plan accordingly should you decide to enroll in the summer plan).

 

 

IV. How to enroll in one of the payment plans

 

        

To enroll online, go to: http://tuitionpay.salliemae.com/smu - Select “Enroll Now” and complete the form. Payment Plan enrollment is online only.

 

If you enroll after the first installment is due, you must be prepared to pay all past installment payments plus the enrollment fee.

 

All monthly payments made to your payment plan must be made directly to Sallie Mae (http://tuitionpay.salliemae.com/smu - Select "Manage Your Account" or call Sallie Mae at 1-877-279-6092).

 

Please note: other related enrollment fees may apply.

Additional Fees:

Check By Phone - $10 phone charge
Electronic Check - Free on or before the monthly due date / $5 fee after the due date
Credit Card By Phone - $10 phone charge plus a tiered fee (VISA is not accepted)
Online Credit Card – tiered credit card fee
Monthly Late Fee: $5

 

In order to avoid a late payment fee of up to 3% of the unpaid balance, please consider one of these payment options above or make full payment directly to SMU by the SMU payment due date.    

 

We do not offer payment plans for January Term and May Term. Payment for these terms must be paid directly to SMU by the designated due dates.
