THE LEVI A. OLAN COLLECTION was established in 1963 by gifts from the friends, family, and colleagues of Rabbi Olan. The collection includes works from the fifteenth to the twentieth centuries, with an emphasis on the later period. Included are the first edition of Diderot's Encyclopédie, the Chagall Bible, and books from the Book Club of California, Gehenna Press, Limited Editions Club, the Merrymount Press, works illustrated by Ben Shahn, all the early winners of the National Book Award for Fiction, the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and the Pulitzer Prize for biography. |
