THE DANCE OF DEATH COLLECTION comprises 200 works from the fifteenth through the twentieth centuries illustrating the principle theme in the literature and art of the macabre, namely, a procession of death in which both living and dead take part. Notable in the collection is the first edition of the famous woodcuts by Hans Holbein the Younger (Lyons, 1538). |
