This richly bound and illustrated American edition of the Book of Common Prayer is decorated with 663 wood-engravings consisting of historiated initials depicting Biblical scenes, architectural frames, and larger illustrations based on old master paintings. Bridwell Library’s copy with the original publisher’s elaborate gilt binding was stamped with the name of the owner, E.M. Remsen.
