The more complete removal of
the same prohibited sermon on Ruth in this earlier
edition had drastic consequences for the physical
book as a whole. When the censor cut out all seven
leaves of Sermon 7, he also removed the ending of
Sermon 6 and the beginning of Sermon 8. Moreover,
the gap opened by the missing leaves in this
otherwise tightly bound book invited damage both by
moisture and bookworms in the upper and lower
margins.
