Programs

 

The Programs of the Center for Methodist Studies at Bridwell Library are designed to promote a better understanding ofCenter for Methodist Studies Shield the history and nature of the Methodist movement among a wide audience. The primary function of the Center is to undergird the curricular program of Perkins School of Theology by providing resources and facilities for research and study by students and faculty. In addition, the Center undertakes to supplement this basic service by providing additional opportunities for inquiry, dialogue, and reflection through public events, displays, and publications.

 

Public Events -- The Center organizes workshops, lectures, concerts, colloquia, and other public events that reflect and interpret its resources. Special events include convocation programs, informal continuing education courses, Ministers' Week workshops, and lectures that are designed to include faculty, students, clergy, laity, and visiting scholars. The Center also hosts a variety of visiting church groups, such as historical societies and confirmation classes.

 

Exhibitions -- The resources of the Center for Methodist Studies at Bridwell Library provide important evidence for the interpretation of Methodist history. Exhibitions on topics in Methodism are a regular part of Bridwell' s public program.
