President names provost search committee
President R. Gerald Turner has appointed a 15-member committee to conduct a national search identifying candidates for the position of provost and vice president for academic affairs. Read more.

A landmark book by Jorge Luis Borges is the challenge for bookbinding artists competing in the fourth Helen Warren DeGolyer Exhibition and Award for American Bookbinding June 1-3. Their designs will become part of a juried show and exhibit in Bridwell Library. Read more.
Anthropologist remembered as pioneer
Cultural anthropologist George McClelland Foster, who received an honorary doctorate from SMU in 1990, is remembered by his Hilltop associates as a gracious colleague and a pioneer in his field. Read more.

For the Record
The Student Senate presented the following awards to faculty, staff and students at its final 2005-06 meeting: S.P.A.R.C., Organization of the Year; Traci Ray, Program Council, Faculty/Staff Member of the Year; Lisa McCurley, Ad Director, Student of the Year; Lee Hinga, African-American Senator, Senator of the Year; and Joseph Grinnell, Environmental Chair, Chair of the Year. The Senate also presented outgoing Dedman College Dean Jasper Neel with a plaque of appreciation on behalf of the Senate and the campus community. Neel steps down as dean in June to return to full-time teaching.
