NFL Legend Jerry Rice to speak at Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum Luncheon

DALLAS, TEXAS – The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum welcomes Jerry Rice to Dallas on Tuesday, April 17.

The luncheon will take place in the Khmer Pavilion of The Hilton Anatole at noon.  Media availability begins at 10:45 a.m. in the Jade Room of The Anatole.

Rice played an extraordinary 21 seasons with the NFL, and was selected to the Pro Bowl 13 times during his career. After an impressive rookie year in 1985, Rice led the league in receiving yards and touchdown receptions in his second season as a pro. During his prolific career, Rice established numerous NFL records, including an amazing 274 consecutive games with a reception. He is the only receiver in NFL history to record 1,000 receiving yards in 14 seasons. Rice retired as the all-time leader in receiving yards, receptions and touchdown receptions. In Super Bowl XXIII, against the Cincinnati Bengals, Rice caught 11 passes for 215 yards and a touchdown, clinching the first of three Super Bowl victories with the 49ers. After his remarkable performance in this championship game, the league named him Super Bowl MVP, making Rice the third wide receiver ever to receive the honor.
