2003 DOAK WALKER AWARD SUPPLEMENTAL CANDIDATES ANNOUNCED
DALLAS, TEXAS - Six additional candidates have been added to the field for the 2003 Doak Walker Award, which is presented annually to the nation's top college running back. All candidates for the Doak Walker Award are nominated by their universities.
The supplemental nominees (in alphabetical order) are:

They join the list of initial candidates who were announced in August for the Award. Cobbs replaces Arkansas teammate De'Arrius Howard from the initial list.

The field will be pared down to eight semifinalists by a vote of the SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors on November 19. Announcement of the three finalists will be made on Monday, December 1. The recipient of the 2003 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on ESPN along with other National College Football Awards Association member awards on The Home Depot College Football Awards on Thursday, December 11. The Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet will be held at The Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, Texas, on Thursday, February 12, 2004.
The recipients of the 2003 PricewaterhouseCoopers Doak Walker Legends Award, Doc Blanchard and Glenn Davis of Army, will also be honored at the event.
