Eight time LPGA Player of theYear Annika Sorenstam to Speak at SMU Athletic Forum Luncheon
DALLAS, TEXAS – The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum welcomes the winner of an unprecedented 72 LPGA tournaments and eight-time player of the year, Annika Sorenstam to Dallas on Thursday, March 5, for an Athletic Forum Luncheon. The luncheon will begin at noon in the Chantilly Ballroom of the Hilton Anatole. Media availability begins at 10:45 a.m. in the Coral Room of The Anatole. Sorenstam was the most dominant force in women’s golf during her 15 years as a professional. Sorenstam rewrote the LPGA and Ladies European Tour record books winning an amazing 88 career tournaments, including 72 LGPA victories. She was named Rolex Player of Year eight times, totaled six Vare Trophy wins, and three Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year awards, among others. Her success has brought unprecedented attention to women’s golf changing how the game is played, watched and covered. In 2007, Sorenstam opened the Annika Academy at Reunion Resort and Club, outside of Orlando, Florida, and in 2008, she stepped away from competitive play.
## Honoring the legends of sports for 20 years, the Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum celebrates outstanding success in athletics. Based in Dallas, the series features major figures from a variety of sports. The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum includes four luncheons and the prestigious Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet.
