NBA Great and TNT Basketball Analyst Charles Barkley to Speak at SMU Athletic Forum Luncheon
DALLAS, TEXAS – The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum welcomes Charles Barkley to Dallas on Wednesday, March 12. The AT&T Luncheon will take place at noon in the Khmer Pavilion of The Hilton Anatole at noon. Media availability begins at 10:45 a.m. in the Cooper Room of The Anatole. During his 16-year NBA playing career Charles Barkley established himself one of the most dominant and colorful players of this era. After an outstanding college career at Auburn, Barkley was the fifth overall pick of the Philadelphia 76ers in 1984. Barkley earned NBA All-Rookie honors, and was an NBA-All Star in six of the eight seasons that he played for Philadelphia. In 1992, Barkley was traded to the Phoenix Suns, and he led the Suns to the league’s best record, the 1993 NBA Finals and was named league MVP. The 11-time All-Star finished his NBA career as the 13th all-time leading scorer in NBA history and joined Wilt Chamberlain as the only player in league history with more than 23,000 points, 12,000 rebounds and 4,000 assists. Since 2002 Barkley has served as Studio Analyst on TNT’s three-time Emmy Award-winning postgame show Inside the NBA. ### Honoring the legends of sports for 19 years, the Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum celebrates outstanding success in athletics. Based in Dallas, the series features major figures from a variety of sports. The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum includes four luncheons and the prestigious Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet.
