Application Process
Twice a year we hold a lottery to establish a waiting list. During the lottery, applicants will fill out an application and draw a number. That number determines their place on the waiting list. Anyone who comes after the lottery is placed at the bottom of the waiting list.
The application lottery for June-August 2008 move-in will be held Wednesday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Blanton Student Services Building (lower level) Applications after that date will be added to the waiting list. Due to the closing of the Binkley apartments, current Binkley residents will participate in a separate lottery during the Expo and will be given offered apartments before the general lottery participants.
The lottery for January 2009 move-ins will be held in October 2008.
How the waiting list works
Apartments are offered to those applicants who have declared a move-in date that
coincides with the make-ready dates of vacant apartments. There are two ways to
be assigned to an apartment: Sight Unseen and Wait to View.
- Sight
Unseen: Many
applicants want to secure an apartment prior to the end of the semester. The
apartments are still occupied, so viewing the apartment is not an option. Each
semester after the lottery, "Sight Unseen Sign-ups" are held. Applicants are
able to select an apartment and sign their contract for a future move in date.
Applicants are not be able to view the apartment prior to move in, but they
will know their address, floor plan, and rent. Contracts are binding.
- Regular/Wait to View: The other method of being assigned to an apartment is to wait until an apartment is ready to be viewed. Applicants will be contacted when an apartment is available to view. Once the applicant has view the apartment they will decide if they want to sign the contract to secure it or not.
Deposits: The security deposit is equal to one months rent. At the time of contract signing, $150 is due. The remainder is due on the day the contract begins.
