This is truly a do-not-miss event.
On Saturday morning, May 18, the Class of 1963 will be celebrated by the entire University community in the 98th annual Commencement ceremony taking place during SMU’s centennial celebration. Regalia and commemorative medallions are provided for this 90-minute event. You can even wear your own special regalia. A shuttle will transport classmates and their guests from a dressing area to Commencement. Class co-chair Mike Boone will address the class of 2013, and former US Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison will give the Commencement address. Since degrees are not awarded at the event, it is a short, yet moving, ceremony. This was an event you will remember for a long time.
To Participate
Arrive at the Biggers parking lot between 7:15 and 7:45 a.m. (5817
Hillcrest Ave.) At 7:45 a.m., a shuttle will transport participants and
guests to the official dressing area in Perkins Administration Building on
campus. Participants will receive regalia and a medallion. If you have your
own regalia, you are welcome to wear it. At 8 a.m., guests are escorted to
the reserved viewing area on the main quad. At 8:45 a.m., SMU’s Commencement
Marshalls will lead participants in the processional where you will be
honored by the entire audience. After the ceremony, participants and guests
will return to our dressing area to disrobe and pick up any personal
belongings. Shuttles will return you to your vehicles at the Biggers lot by
11:30 a.m.
