BLACKALUMNIOFSMU

Black Alumni of SMU was established in 1995 as an affinity group that supplements the activities of the Office of Alumni Giving and Relations. The mission of Black Alumni of SMU is to serve as the link between SMU Black alumni and the SMU community.

Expectations

  • Attend Black Alumni of SMU meetings  
  • Attend Black Alumni of SMU events such as the tent on the Boulevard and networking mixers throughout the year
  • Assist with development and recruitment efforts
  • Work closely with the Association of Black Students student group
  • Volunteer to serve as a mentor to a current SMU student through the Developing Dynamic Leaders Program

Time Commitment

  • Black Alumni of SMU meetings are held the first Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the SMU Faculty Club, 3034 Daniel Avenue
  • The amount of time spent in this position will fluctuate; however, a Black Alumni of SMU member can expect to spend 1-5 hours a month on activities (less time between events and more time around events)
