The Celebration of Lights, Southern Methodist University's 29th annual welcoming of the holiday season, was held on December 3, on the University's main quad.
More than 100,000 decorative lights filled the trees and luminarias lined the sidewalks.
The public joined the SMU community for a night of caroling and holiday performances by the Voices of Inspiration, Men’s Quartet, Kappa A Capella, and the Garland High School Chamber Singers.
SMU President R. Gerald Turner followed a decades-old tradition of reading The Christmas Story from the New Testament. Before the close of the celebration, the SMU Christmas tree was lighted.
The event is sponsored by SMU's Student Foundation. Throughout the holidays, the trees on the main quad, as well as the Christmas tree, are lighted in the evenings.
