Ramon Award

The SMU Hispanic Alumni group keeps Latino alumni connected to SMU and each other through a variety of social, cultural, professional and academic programs. Opportunities include:

Alumni Student Recruitment Networking with alumni and local Hispanic organizations
Social gatherings
Participation in Homecoming activities
Participation in the Hispanic Issues Forum and La Familia Luncheon
Volunteering with the Hispanic Youth Symposium for high school students
Helping raise money for the Hispanic Alumni Scholarship

Hispanic Alumni Scholarship

SMU Hispanic Alumni launched an initiative to raise funds for the Hispanic Alumni Scholarship in 2009. In the 2010-11 school year, with the help of over 200 donors, SMU Hispanic Alumni has provided over $21,000 in scholarships to this year’s recipients: Pablo De Santiago, Angela Martinez, Cassandra Mata, Jacqueline Negrete, and Karen Rico.

All money raised for the Hispanic Alumni Scholarship goes directly to the current SMU students selected. To receive this scholorship, a student must:

Be a rising undergraduate senior or graduate student
Be a member of College Hispanic American Students
Earn a GPA of 3.000 or above
Demonstrate financial need
