SMU Hispanic Alumni

The SMU Hispanic Alumni group keeps Latino alumni connected to SMU and each other through a variety of social, cultural, professional and academic programs.  Opportunities include:

• Alumni Student Recruitment
• Social gatherings
• Participation in Homecoming activities
• Participation in the Hispanic Issues Forum and La Familia Luncheon
• Volunteering with the Hispanic Youth Symposium for high school students
• Helping raise money for the Hispanic Alumni Scholarship

Hispanic Alumni Scholarship

SMU Hispanic Alumni launched an initiative to raise funds for the Hispanic Alumni Scholarship in 2009. In the 2011-12 school year, with the help of over 200 donors, SMU Hispanic Alumni has provided over $22,000 in scholarships to this year’s recipients: Angela Martinez and Pamela Varela

All money raised for the Hispanic Alumni Scholarship goes directly to the current SMU students selected. To receive this scholarship, a student must:

• Be a rising undergraduate senior or graduate student
• Be a member of College Hispanic American Students
• Earn a GPA of 3.000 or above
• Demonstrate financial need
