L.E.C. TUTORING

In A Nutshell:

Does tutoring cost anything? No, it's free.

Do I need an appointment? No: we work on a drop-in basis.

Who is it for? All SMU undergrads. Strong as well as struggling students.

Really? Like, do all those students really use it? Absolutely. Lots of students use L.E.C. tutoring. Strong as well as struggling. It's something that makes SMU different from most other schools.

Who are the tutors? Mostly, SMU undergrads who are veterans of the courses they tutor. Plus a few grad students. Tutoring is a job that they do for pay (pretty good pay, for SMU campus employment), and we are quite selective about whom we hire.

Will I have a tutor all to myself? Usually, though not the night before an exam. Some students prefer small-group tutoring.

So, will tutors do my homework for me? No. Tutors are not question-answering machines. A tutor is a knowledgeable person with whom you can talk about issues you'd like to clarify. Come prepared to talk as well as to listen.
