Scholarships
If you submit your Application for Admission by the above
deadlines (November 1 for Early Action; January 15 for Regular
Decision; April 1 for transfers) you will be automatically considered for
University wide
merit and leadership scholarships offered by SMU. If you are applying
for the Nancy Ann and Ray L. Hunt Leadership Scholars Program, a
separate essay must be submitted with your Application for Admission.
January 15 is the deadline to apply for the Hunt Scholarship. To
be considered for need-based aid, you must file both a Free Application
for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
and a College Scholarship Service
CSS/PROFILE. The
FAFSA and the CSS/PROFILE deadline is February 15. For both forms, list SMU as your
college choice. The SMU codes are 003613(FAFSA) and 6660 (CSS/PROFILE).
Both the FAFSA and the CSS/PROFILE must be filed
each year for continued consideration of SMU, federal, and state
funding. If you wish to be considered for a limited number of scholarship
funds that have specific eligibility requirements established by
donors, you must submit SMUs Application for Financial Aid Scholarships
by February 15.
Payment due dates
To reserve a place in the first-year class,
admitted students are required to submit a nonrefundable deposit
that includes matriculation fee, advance tuition deposit, and housing
deposit. Deposit deadlines are May 1 (postmarked) for
fall term and December 14 (postmarked) for spring
term.
Arts candidates
All first-year and transfer students who intend to
major in the performing arts of dance, music, or theatre must
satisfy a performance audition requirement as part of the admission
process prior to matriculation.
