A partnership for progress
SMU and Dallas represent a partnership for your progress.
Around 36,000 SMU alumni live and work in the Dallas-Fort Worth
area. Dallas is home to more than 100,000 businesses and about
1,500 regional and corporate headquarters
and is consistently ranked as one of the nations best locations
for its thriving environment for commerce. Because of SMUs
close ties with the community, area companies, and other
organizations, students can gain valuable work experience through
internships and part-time jobs. Internships are available
in a number of fields, including the humanities. In addition, many
top executives serve as student mentors and visit campus
for lively exchanges of information and ideas.
The SMU Career Center can help you chart your path toward
success. Services cover everything from career counseling,
assessment, and résumé writing to placement in internships,
either paid or unpaid, and some for academic credit. The Career
Center hosts a variety of specialized career fairs for business
and technology, nonprofit opportunities, advertising, communications,
and the liberal arts and sciences. SMU students also have access
to job opportunities nationwide, thanks to regular campus
visits by companies like American Airlines, Eli Lilly and Company,
and the top management accounting firms. And the Office of Alumni
Relations
offers an Alumni Career Network.
