R, also called GNU S, is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics. It compiles and runs on numerous versions of UNIX platforms, Windows and MacOS. R provides a wide variety of statistical (linear and nonlinear modelling, classical statistical tests, time-series analysis, classification, clustering, ...) and graphical techniques, and is highly extensible.
IMSL provides libraries of callable subroutines. SMU has licenses for the C and Fortran libraries. Licenses: Network server

Following are supported software available from Academic Computing Services or unsupported software that may be downloaded and installed by the user. Many are available on our UNIX server tethys.systems.smu.edu (Titan). Some are also available as stand-alone applications for Windows PC, Mac or Linux. Contact ITS Help Desk to request installation of supported software or for obtaining server access privileges. Some of the academic and research software is available for use on Academic Computing PCs in FLE 108: MatLab, Stata, Eviews, SAS, SPSS and ArcGIS.
