FA Accept/Decline Self-Service Instructions

Go to
Access.SMU.
Enter your Login ID (8 digit Student ID number) and your Password (same as your
Webmail Password) and choose "Sign In"
o Open “Student Center”
o Open "Finances"
o Choose "Accept/Decline Awards"
o
Select the specific aid year to view your awards

You are now ready to Accept/Decline/Reduce your specific awards.
You will not be able to Accept/Decline/Reduce some awards because they are
grayed out check boxes. No action is required because they are grants we have
accepted for you or you previously accepted the awards.
o To accept all awards: choose "Accept All"
o To decline all awards: choose "Decline All"
o To accept and decline individual awards: choose the appropriate check box found at the right of each award
o To reduce an award: choose the check box in the Accept column. A text box will appear in the "Accepted" field and automatically populate with the maximum amount of the award. To reduce this amount, simply choose inside the text box and enter the desired amount.

To finalize your awards: choose "Submit"

If your award includes a “Federal Direct PLUS Loan Estimate” (for
parents of undergraduate dependent students) or “PLUS/Alt Loan Eligibility” (for
graduate/professional students), please refer to the
Office of Financial Aid
Loans website for application instructions. You may also accept the
estimate/eligibility and you will receive a subsequent SMU email notification
with further instructions on how to apply for the loan(s).
